Christmas for me has always been about family. Yesterday, I was honored to spend all day with different parts of my family at a time, and although some of the circumstances, due to illness, were less than comfortable, I enjoyed a memorable day feeling and expressing love and the spirit. I'll always remember this Christmas and treasure my family all the more because of it.
My daughter spoke in church last Sunday on "What Christmas Means to Me." I was a mildly surprised when she didn't immediately open the scriptures or quote a prophet, but found her meaning in a song from this 1978 Sesame Street Christmas special:
Her main theme was that it is possible to honor Christ throughout the year and not just at Christmas time. She's right, of course, and it's most any get together that makes me feel like Christmas all through the year.
As for yesterday, crud, I don't even remember what presents I received, but the food was fantastic! These aren't wonderful pictures, but they show our traditional foods like decorating cut-out cookies, cinnamon rolls and egg/sourdough bread/cheese/bacon casserole for breakfast and homemade rolls with the turkey for dinner. Comfort food for sure, and I'm very comfortable with the leftovers.
I hope that all of you had a Christmas that was excellent, exciting, and wonderful!
